A Catholic priest in Orlu Catholic Diocese, Imo State Rev. Fr. Cyriacus Onunkwo has been found dead very close to his area of jurisdiction.
The Imo State Police Command confirmed to our correspondent that the priest was abducted and murdered by unknown gunmen.
According to the state Police Commissioner, CP, Mr. Chris Ezike, the case of the whereabouts of the priest was reported by the church and after searching, his body was discovered at a nearby bush in Orlu.
According to the Imo police boss, priests of Orlu Catholic Diocese were called in immediately and they identified the corpse as their priest.
Ezike said that the police are working round the clock to apprehend those who had committed the crime as they promised not to leave any stone unturned in the search for the killers.
“We have not been able to arrest anybody for now in connection with the crime, investigation is going on to unravel the criminals,” the police boss said
