Nigerian Catholic priest resigns, says he's so happy he is now free
NCG gathered that a Catholic priest who says he's now "so happy that he's free" has quit the priesthood after serving at a church in Akwa Ibom.
The priest formerly identified as Reverend Father Patrick Henry Edet decided to quit both the priesthood and the Catholic church while choosing to still be addressed as just 'Reverend'.
The information was shared by a Facebook user, Aniekeme Finbarr, who is also the special assistant on media to the Akwa Ibom state governor
Sharing the post, Finbarr wrote:
"JUST IN: Catholic Priest, Rev. Fr. Patrick Henry Edet has resigned from the catholic priesthood, quits the Catholic Church.
He says he should be addressed as Reverend Patrick Edet. And on a lighter note, he says he can still be called Fr.
"From Today Henceforth, I cease to be a Catholic Priest, in my spirit and in my soul... I forgive those who will criticize me, I live for God...I seek freedom for my soul. As I leave, I leave smiling, I AM SO HAPPY THAT I AM FREE".
